Tech Quest Committee/Silent Auction: (Winter/Spring) Assist with planning and implemeting a fundraising event held in the spring to raise money to purchase new technology for the school. The Silent Auction sub-committee procures items for the silent auction held at the fundraiser. More information can be found at this link Fundraising for Elmos. Art Show: (Spring) Assist with this school-wide (K-5th) student art show and evening reception. Assist with event planning, storage, set-up and breakdown of student exhibits. CHAIRPERSON NEEDED. Contact Ann Shenasky; [email protected] ,for more info or to volunteer to Chair.
Back-to-School Picnic: (Sept) Help needed before, during and after the picnic to make this first family event of the year a success. Selling tickets, manning tables. Contact: Cecilia Yazigi; [email protected]
Baltimore County Savings Bank Program: (1x/month, before the start of the school day 8:30-9:00AM) Assist the upperclassmen with the administration of a banking program. Contact: Greg Glessner; [email protected]
Birthday Book Program: (1x/month, throughout the year) Assist with the distribution of books to students. Contact: Stephanie Huck; [email protected]
Book Fair: (held during American Education Week, November 15-19, 2010) Assist with the set-up/break down of the fair and sales to students and the general public. Contact: Courtney Wyatt; [email protected] or Jennifer Wyatt; [email protected]
Cafeteria Coverage: Provide cafeteria coverage during lunch time; assist with crowd control and help students as needed. Each class is assigned 1 or 2 weeks during the year. Contact your child's Room Parent for information or to volunteer. There is a Guide for Parent Helpers in the Cafeteria.
Farewell Reception:(June) Assist with setting up, breaking down for 5th grade Farewell Reception in the spring. Contact: Rachelle Martin; [email protected].
Geography Club: (Fridays 8:00-8:30 AM with Nat'l Geographic Bee held in January) Club's mission is to provide enrichment in the subject of geography and prepare members for the National Geography Bee. Contact: Katie Lehr; [email protected]
Holiday Boutique: (December) Make gifts/shop for gifts. Assist with a store set up for several days to allow children to shop for the holidays. Assist children with gift selection and check out. Contacts: Nancy Anastasiades; [email protected] or Kristi Skinner; [email protected]
Holiday Breakfast: (December) Assist with this fun holiday event. It involves a breakfast, games, the Holiday Boutique, and pictures with Santa. Jr. Achievement/Biz Town (4th grade): (Oct-Nov) many opportunities performing behind the scenes preparation, to interviewing children for "jobs" to mentoring them at Biz Town.
Library: (throughout the year) Assist teachers and students in locating materials, shelve books, prepare new materials for circulation, and repair materials. Contact: Jenn Busse; [email protected]
Picture Parent: (throughout the year) Teach a prepared art lesson in your child's classroom. Includes a presentation and project. Help expose the students to various artists and techniques. No experience required. Contacts: Lisa Vandervest; [email protected] or Kathleen Phelps; [email protected]
Room Parent: (throughout the year) coordinates special activities, including class parties. Facilitate the sign-up for cafeteria coverage. Support school-wide activities that require help from each class. If interested, please contact your child's teacher.
