The reading specialists assist in implementing Riderwood's reading program. The reading specialists work with individuals or small groups of students determined by the students' special strengths and needs. A student's particular program may be implemented in a special reading room or in the child's own classroom. In addition, the reading specialist serves as a resource person for parents, teachers and other staff.

Our reading specialists help teachers with sequence of skills checklists. They help schools with interpretation of various test results and provide training to staff on the latest practices and research in reading. The specialists provide direct and indirect assistance to students in all grades K through 5 that are not performing skills independently and scoring below the third stanine on tests, or referred by classroom teachers.
