Riderwood benefits from its talented and dedicated teachers and parents, who create specialized "clubs" open to students in various grade levels. There is also a Magic Math Club for students to practice Math skills. Currently, there are 15 students in grades 3, 4, & 5 that meet on Tuesdays from 8:00am-8:30am in the Library. The Riderwood Science Club exposes students to engaging hands-on experiments and activities across the spectrum of scientific topics. The activities selected provide elements of wonder, discovery and exploration. There are impressive guest speakers and field trips throughout the year, as well. The focus is on making the learning fun and building curiosity to instigate further interest in science. Students in the fifth grade have the opportunity to participate in a school-wide newspaper.
The Riderwood Geography
Club meets every Friday morning before school, from 8:00 - 8:30
A.M., to learn about geography in a fun, interactive manner. We
read maps, play games, and do practice geography bees to prepare for
the National Geographic Bee, which is held at Riderwood each
January. The club is open to all Riderwood students in grades 1-5,
and approximately 30 students attend the club meetings each week.
